Who we are…

Nestled in the picturesque village of Ephraim, Wisconsin, Pearl Wine Cottage is a family-owned wine bar that has fostered a unique and intimate space for lovers of wine for nearly a decade. The menu is curated every year with the intention to provide familiar tastes for those looking for a classic glass, as well as introduce new and exciting varietals for those looking to expand their palate. Come for a glass, stay for a bottle. Meet new people, celebrate with old friends.

Our history…

Built in the early 1900s, the cottage was first the village butcher shop. In the 1930s the cottage was moved across the street to its current location and became part of the Larson Cottages. The summer rentals boasted “hot and cold running water and innerspring mattresses.” In 1971, artists Ellen and Karsten Topelmann purchased the property. They lived in the “big house” with their children and displayed their artwork in the front rooms. For 50 years the Topelmanns ran the Hanseatic Art Gallery, making many friends and selling their beautiful paintings. In 2019, Lars Topelmann and his wife Monique McClean renovated the cottage to continue on in the spirit and love of Ephraim that his parents and the Larson’s shared.
